Finally some quiet time!!!!!

Trust me, I know it's been awhile but I've been sooooo busy that I haven't had a chance to catch my breath. So while I do I thought I'd let you know just what we have been up to.

Some Bee Information:

Well some of my Bees seem to be on the light side as far as honey stores go. I know I checked right after I took the last bit of honey off to make sure that I left at least 100 lbs. but the only think I can figure out is that because we had a real warm spell the bees got real active and used up some of what they had stored. Great. I've been in a real dilemma of how to fix it. At first I added some syrup feeders to the lightest ones thinking that they would use it, but because it's been too cold they haven't touched it. My Uncle said it's probably just too cold for them to drink. I know he's right so I think my only recourse is going to be patties. Last year when I made them I failed miserably so I'm hoping that I get it right this time. I just peeked out there a little bit ago and although it's almost 45 out they aren't peeking outside their hives.

Show Info:

Since we last spoke I have done a few shows the last one was this weekend in a really neat little town called Grand Rapids in Ohio. I have to admit when I was first told about it I kinda thought, boy that's a real long way to go for a show, (in Michigan we have a Grand Rapids as well and it's on the other side of the state if I drive it takes about four hours if Jim is driving it takes about three hours, one of us has a lead foot and a number of tickets. . . . need I say more). Anyway I drove down on Saturday following the Mapquest directions which were horrible, it had me going on dirt back roads and turning every 1/2 mile. I was really proud of myself for not getting lost but it took me about 1/2 hour longer than I thought it would. I got there and when I pulled into town you could tell it was all about Christmas. The town was decked out to the max. There were Victorian Carolers and ice sculptors and groups of people using bells to make music. Amazing. . . I mean totally amazing. Here is the funny part. The town I believe only has a population a little over 1,000 but if you saw the commitment that they had to making this a success you would have thought it was a town of 10,000. A sleigh went up and down the streets giving families rides. Occasionally I did see Santa hop on. And the Santa, well you've never met a better one. Every child who stopped him got his undivided attention. Can you imagine how tired that poor man was at the end of the day? My space looked out the window into town and I had a really great time not only meeting people who stopped in but just watching all the fun stuff that was going on outside.

I had a really good time there and if you ever get the chance to go to any of the events they put on in this little town by all means go.

What I've been up to:
Well I had a great visit home to my Mom's, got to see my family and see moms new car in person. . . Yes its a beauty!
It was a really nice visit, but as usual not nearly long enough. I hit the ground running once I got home with classes I was taking teaching and giving as well as Grandmother time. (Elmo Live at the Seagate was great!!!! I've never seen so many people under 3 feet tall in one place:) )
I'm trying to get some housework done. Hopefully I'll get enough done so that I can find the table for Thanksgiving dinner. This year there will be a few less at the table. As kids grow up and leave home the places dwindle, and it's kinda sad to think about. Dave is in Korea this year and I'm hoping that he doesn't get too lonesome for family but I'm sure that he will. When we do get a chance to talk to him he sounds good.

I took a few photo's of the town of Grand Rapids and I'll post them either later today or early tomorrow. I'm taking a class to learn some new software so tonight my time is already booked.

Have a great day!!!!
